Štampao je sabrana dela najpoznatijih književnika svoga doba: „Istoriju Srba“ Konstantika Jiričeka, „Karakterologiju Jugoslovena“ Dvornikovića, „Balkansko poluostrvo“ Jovana Cvijića i enciklopedijsko izdanje „Srpski narod u devetnaestom veku“. Oko njega se okupljaju istaknuti književnici i drugi intelektualci tog doba: Slobodan Jovanović, Branislav Nušić, Andra Gavrilović, Jaša Prodanović, Božidar Kovačević, Miloš Crnjanski i drugi.
AB - The premiere of the documentary film about Geca Kon (August 2, 1873-1941), by Mento Mentović, was performed on December 23, 2023, at the Jewish Cultural Center in Belgrade. The film refers to the life and work of this well-known and admitted Belgrade, Serbian and Yugoslav publisher and bookseller who opened his first bookstore in Belgrade in 1901. While working at the bookstore, he also parallel started publishing. He first published works in the fields of law, social sciences and literature, as well as university and school textbooks. He was the initiator of several editions. The most significant are the children's editions "The Golden Book" and "The Blue Bird", the library of old books "Pleiade" and the philosophical library "Caryatids". He printed the collected works of the most famous writers of his time: "History of the Serbs" by Konstantin Jiriček, "Characteristics of the Yugoslavs" by Vladimir Dvorniković, "Balkan Peninsula" by Jovan Cvijić and the encyclopedic edition "Serbian People in the Nineteenth Century". In the period between the two world wars, he published over 5,000 different titles and thus became the largest publisher in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. His bookshop became a meeting and gathering place for prominent writers and intellectuals of that period. Many writers and intellectuals of that time - Slobodan Jovanović, Branislav Nušić, Andra Gavrilović, Jaša Prodanović, Božidar Kovačević, Miloš Crnjanski and others gathered around him. During forty years of his dedicated work, he improved the Serbian book and publishing industry by following modern European trends. In 1941, he and his family were arrested and killed by the German occupiers. Geca Kon's publishing house and bookshop in Belgrade, as a place connected with the personality and activities of one of the most important cultural and educational labourers and a gathering place for the leading intellectuals of that time, is a strong testimony of the rise of the cultural and social life of Belgrade between the two world wars. This place was declared a cultural monument in 2009.

Jevreji Novog Pazara i okoline

Ova knjiga predstavlja doprinos istoriografiji Novog Pazara i okoline i istinitu interpretaciju sudbine novopazarskih Jevreja i doprinos borbi protiv povremenog antisemitizma i iskrivljene stvarnosti.
AB - In Novi Pazar, Raška, Sjenica, Tutin, and Duga Poljana a Jewish community lived
there for several centuries with approximately 300 people. Under the Occupation
of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia at the beginning of March 1942, the Nazis
forcefully took all Jews to the old exhibition center (Staro Sajmište) in Belgrade,
where they were kept there until May 1942. When 292 Jews from Novi Pazar and
the surrounding area was suffocated in a truck from the exhaust fumes of the vehicle they were in. The main goal of this publication is to preserve the identity, cultural values and traditions of the Jewish community. They lived in the territory of Novi Pazar and its surroundings until March 1942, when it was destroyed in the Holocaust. Using the data from the archives, literature, and memories of people who lived together with the Jews, the fate of the Novi Pazar Jews is personalized so that they are not only referred to as the number of casualties, but rather that they were people behind that number. They had their lives, hopes, fears, aspirations and memories that will be described to the citizens of this multiethnic environment in order to inform them and educate them about the Holocaust. The publication is made up of two parts, with eight chapters. Historical data about the Jewish population living in this area is given in the first chapter. The life of the Jews since their move to the Balkans until the start of World War Two is depicted in the second chapter. Most of the text is about life in their community, in all stages of life, along with economic and social status. The third and fourth chapters are the tragic events that destroyed the Jews and took place between the years of 1942. and 1945., along with their return after the war. The chapters also discuss the righteous people from the Balkans that helped the Jews. The second part of the book is divided into Memories and Portraits - the neighbors we had that are now gone. The memories of thirty respectable citizens, of different nationalities, about their lives alongside the Jews and their different origins, nationality, and religion. These documents are from Novi Pazar, Raška, Tutin, Sjenica, and Duga Poljana. Through their testimonies, it is shown that peaceful life is achievable, with mutual tolerance and acceptance of differences. From this, we can notice subtle and early starts of antisemitism in all, especially multicultural environments, and we can further prevent similar tragedies from taking place ever again. Four Jewish families are described in Portraits, each living in Novi Pazar but in different periods of history. Each of them contributed significantly to the economy, social life. They all left a mark, which will be kept as a part of nonmaterial culture since there are no more Jews in this area. The lists of the victims of the Holocaust are in the Attachments.

Ova knjiga predstavlja doprinos istoriografiji Novog Pazara i okoline i istinitu interpretaciju sudbine novopazarskih Jevreja i doprinos borbi protiv povremenog antisemitizma i iskrivljene stvarnosti., In Novi Pazar, Raška, Sjenica, Tutin, and Duga Poljana a Jewish community lived
there for several centuries with approximately 300 people.
The lists of the victims of the Holocaust are in the Attachments.",

AB - With an upsetting introduction about the suffering of several so-called "camp numbers" behind which are people with names and surnames, the film introduces us to the personal destinies of individual Jews, who were brutally killed during the occupation of Belgrade in the Second World War. The film then continues with information about the history of the settlement of Jews in Belgrade, their participation in the wars for freedom of Serbia (Balkan and World War I), and then gives interesting information about their integration into Belgrade society, which is also changing and modernizing. However, starting from the 1930s, under the influence of political events in Germany, the winds of anti-Semitism came to Serbia as well. At that time, a new Belgrade Fair was being built upon the left bank of the Sava River, which will soon become a sad symbol of the suffering of the Jews of Belgrade during the German occupation and the Quisling government. Showing the fate of one of Belgrade's Jewish families, the film introduces us to Reli Alfandari Pardo who was "Belgrade's Ana Frank". The story continues with the arrival of 1,200 Jews from Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic who fled from the Nazis and whose fate ends in the small town of Kladovo, on the Danube. Proclamation measures so-called "Numerus Clause", which limit the rights of Jews in Serbia and Belgrade are presented. Then the film introduces us to the circumstances of the beginning of the war and the occupation. By presenting numerous documents issued by the occupation authorities together with the local Nedić authorities, which refer to Jews, a clear picture is created of humiliation, robbery and preparation for the physical liquidation of Jews. Then follows a description of the places where Jews were imprisoned, and then killed ... Sajmište, Topovske šupe, Jajinci, Zasavica ... The film also talks about those Belgraders - Serbs, who did not reconcile with such crimes, and who individually helped and tried to hide individual Jews or families. A particularly unusual and interesting part of the film is the description of the survival of the Ajzinberg family, mother and son, with the Draža Mihajlović's Chetnik's movement. The Sajmište camp is also shown, and especially the manner of killing in the gas van "Dušegupka". Finally, the film talks about the participation of Jews in the People's Liberation Struggle with Tito's partisans.

Film govori i o vremenu i okolnostima ogromnog stradanja u Drugom svetskom ratu.
AB - The beginning of the film introduces us to the atmosphere in Belgrade on April 4, 1876, when Prince Mihailo received a decree from the Turkish sultan on the surrender of the fortified cities to the Serbs. Upon his return to Belgrade, among others, he was solemnly welcomed by Jews, celebrating in his mahala on Jalija by the Danube. In that name, the Jews wrote a patriotic verse on the decorative letter, specially dedicated to Prince Mihailo for this occasion. The film talks about the atmosphere of Jewish life in Belgrade, especially since 1643 in the quart Jalija (Dorcol), but also about the later status of Jews in liberated Serbia, during Obrenović's. Describing and presenting their daily life, religious activity, jobs and occupations, the film follows the time before the First World War, and especially the time between the two world wars. The film introduces us to the founding of Jewish societies, the construction of significant social, religious and cultural facilities, activities related to religious life, etc. Special mention is dedicated to important Jewish individuals who left a visible mark in the Serbian and Belgrade cultural, economic and intellectual society in that time. The film also talks about the time and circumstances of the great suffering in the Second World War. Finally, it ends with a review of the renewal of the life of the Jewish community in Belgrade, from October 22, 1944, immediately after the liberation, when the few survivors reorganized the life and work of the Jewish community in Belgrade.

Na kraju završava i sa opisom obnove života jevrejske zajednice Beograda, od 22. oktobra 1944. godine, neposredno nakon oslobođenja, kada malobrojni preživeli ponovo organizuju život i rad jevrejske zajednice u Beogradu., The beginning of the film introduces us to the atmosphere in Belgrade on April 4, 1876, when Prince Mihailo received a decree from the Turkish sultan on the surrender of the fortified cities to the Serbs. Finally, it ends with a review of the renewal of the life of the Jewish community in Belgrade, from October 22, 1944, immediately after the liberation, when the few survivors reorganized the life and work of the Jewish community in Belgrade.",

Deo filma opisuje i ilustruje i vreme stradanja tokom Drugog svetskog rata.
AB - As part of the film series "Jews in Belgrade", this film is dedicated to the Jewish Historical Museum, which was formed after the great suffering in the Second World War, in 1945. He characterizes the need of the Jews as a "people of the book" to preserve and present their long, often difficult history and heritage, through written and material artefacts, documents and photographs, religious objects, manuscripts and other archival material. The film shows the permanent exhibition of the museum, but also thematic exhibitions. Giving the history of the museum, the description of the building and the space in which the museum is located, the film introduces us to the almost oldest artefact - a fragment of a tombstone from March 30, 1641 (Nisan 5, 5401 according to the Jewish calendar). The permanent exhibition shows the history and directions of the arrival of Jews in the former Yugoslavia, shows synagogues, social buildings, cemeteries, Jewish organizations, famous persons and families from all over the former Yugoslavia. In particular, depictions of objects from the Jewish sacral life are given. A special part of the film describes and illustrates the period of suffering during the Second World War. The film also talks about the current organization and work of this museum, as well as its cooperation with related institutions in Serbia and worldwide.

AB - The film begins with a brief history of the presence and life of Jews in the former Yugoslavia and especially Serbia. Then, the time after the First World War and the formation of Yugoslavia is shown, when the idea of the need to organize a joint institution that would connect and organize the social life and work of the Jews of Yugoslavia began to grow. In that context, film talks about the initiator of this idea, Dr Hugo Spitzer, who raised the issue. Together with like-minded people in several cities in the country, and especially through contacts and agreements with Dr Friedrich Pops from Belgrade, they were agreed to establish a joint Jewish organization of all Jewish communities in the kingdom. Through the joint institution of the Federation, they would more easily organize and coordinate the implementation of common goals in religious, cultural, political and humanitarian issues. Through numerous information and descriptive representations, the film talks about the chronology and rich activities that were the result of the founding of the "Federation of Jewish (Israeli) Religious Communities" on July 1, 1919. The activities of the Federation in the time before, during and after the Second World War, until today, are followed.

AB - After a general introduction to the history of the origin, the place and the role of the "synagogue" in the religious, social and educational life of Jews in general, the film introduces us to the history of the first rabbis in Belgrade, as well as the first yeshiva and Talmud Torah schools, as educational but also religious institutions. 1690 is probably the year when the first synagogue built in Belgrade - "El Cal Viježo". Then follows the history of other synagogues in Belgrade: the small "El Kaliziku", the ritual bath, the school of Beit Hamidrash, the Old synagogue on Jalia, the new "El Kal Nuevo", "Beth Israel" in the upper part of the town on Zerek, a place of worship in the city called Fišeklija (between the Church of Sveti Marko and the Faculty of Law), leased the building of the National Theater in Kosmajska 51, 1869, which served as a synagogue, and as the last Ashkenazi synagogue, whose cornerstone was laid in 1924. The film ends with information and description of that synagogue, which today, under the name "Sukat Shalom" (Peace cottage), is the only active synagogue in Bograd.

AB - Giving a general introduction to the need of every Jewish community in the world to organize a space for their social life, as well as a place for prayer - a synagogue, the film introduces us to the essential need of every Jewish community to organize a place for burial, i.e. a Jewish cemetery. Following especially the period from 1521, when the presence of Jews in Belgrade became visible and documented, the film shows the origin of the first Jewish cemeteries in Belgrade. First on the Savska padina (Sava slope), and then in the 17th century on Dorćol - Jalija, (the so-called "Danube side"), and then Palilula. 1888 the Jewish church-religious community bought the plot on the area of today's Roosevelt Street, where a new Jewish cemetery, known as the Sephardic one, is being arranged, and opposite it is a smaller plot of the Ashkenazi cemetery, arranged earlier, in 1876. The film also introduces us to the valuable monuments and parts of today's Jewish cemetery. These are the monument to the Jews who participated in the Balkans and the First World War, the monument to the victims of the Second World War, the work of the famous architect and former mayor of Belgrade, Bogdan Bogdanović, the monument to the victims of "Kladovo Transport", the monument to Hugo Buli, the man who brought the first football to Serbia - Belgrade, and the initiator and organizer of the first "football club" in Belgrade - the Ball Section at the Belgrade Gymnastics Association "Soko". The film also talks about "Geniza" - a grave where damaged "holy Jewish books" are "buried".

To su monumentalni spomenik Jevrejima učesnicima Balkanskih i Prvog svetskog rata, spomenik žrtvama Drugog svetskog rata, delo poznatog arhitekte i bivšeg gradonačelnika Beograda, Bogdana Bogdanovića, spomenik žrtvama „Kladovskog transporta”, spomenik Hugi Buliju, čoveku koji je doneo prvu fudbalsku loptu u Srbiju i Beograd, i inicijatoru i organizatoru prvog „fudbalskog kluba” u Beogradu - Loptačke sekcije pri Beogradskom gimnastičkom društvu „Soko”. U filmu se posebno govori i o „Genizi”- grobu gde se „sahranjuju” oštećene svete jevrejske knjige., Giving a general introduction to the need of every Jewish community in the world to organize a space for their social life, as well as a place for prayer - a synagogue, the film introduces us to the essential need of every Jewish community to organize a place for burial, i.e. a Jewish cemetery. The film also talks about "Geniza" - a grave where damaged "holy Jewish books" are "buried".",
