"Devetnaestog avgusta 1953. godine je Kneset u Jerusalimu jednoglasno doneo Zakon o sećanju na mučenike i junake - Jad Vašem. Tim zakonom je osnovana nacionalna institucija Jad Vašem sa zadatkom da ovekoveči uspomenu: na šest miliona Jevreja koje su uništili nacisti i njihovi pomagači; na jevrejske porodice koje su ugnjetači istrebili; na opštine, hramove, pokrete i organizacije; na kulturne, vaspitne, religiozne i dobrotvorne ustanove koje su uništene u nameri da se izbriše ime i kultura jevrejskog naroda; na odvažnost Jevreja koji su žrtvovali svoje živote za svoj narod; na hrabrost vojnika - Jevreja kao i na jevrejske borce i partizane po gradovima, selima i šumama, koji su poginuli u borbi protiv nacističkih zločinaca i njihovih pomagača; na junačku i upornu borbu jevrejskog naroda koji se uprkos opasnosti uništenja zalagao za očuvanje ljudskog dostojanstva i jevrejske kulture; na herojski otpor zatočenika i boraca geta koji su se podigli na pobune da spasu čast svog naroda; na oč...ajne napore ugroženih da uprkos svih smetnji stignu na obale spasenja u jevrejsku zemlju kao i na odvažnost i zalaganje njihove braće koja su spašavala i oslobodila preživele; na pravednike svih naroda koji su stavljali svoje živote na kocku da bi spasavali Jevreje..."
"On August 19, 1953, the Knesset in Jerusalem unanimously passed the Law on the Remembrance of Martyrs and Heroes - Yad Vashem. The law established the national institution Yad Vashem with the task of perpetuating the memory of six million Jews destroyed by the Nazis and their helpers and Jewish families exterminated by the oppressors; to communities, temples, movements, and organizations; to cultural, educational, religious and charitable institutions that were destroyed in order to erase the name and culture of the Jewish people; on the daring of the Jews who sacrificed their lives for their people; to the courage of soldiers - Jews as well as Jewish fighters and partisans in cities, villages, and forests, who were killed in the fight against Nazi criminals and their helpers; the heroic and persistent struggle of the Jewish people who, despite the danger of destruction, advocated the preservation of human dignity and Jewish culture; the heroic resistance of the prisoners and ghetto f...ighters who raised to revolt to save the honor of their people; to the desperate efforts of the endangered to reach the shores of salvation in the Jewish land in spite of all disturbances; to the bravery and commitment of their brothers who rescued and freed the survivors; to the righteous of all nations who took the risk their lives to save the Jews.
