| sr |
dc.description.abstract | Elaborating on the project "Revitalization of Small Jewish Communities in Serbia", the editors of “Pinkas“ offered to members of the Jewish community, mostly in small communities, several short, interesting texts on Jewish topics, suitable for reading and organizing conversations in communities. The Commission for Culture and Education of the Federation and the Project Board printed texts in notebooks (pinks) on topics from Jewish history (general and Yugoslav), art and science, problems of the Holocaust, anti-Semitism, Jewish identity, etc. One of those texts is Ivan Ninić's text "On Maimonides", with two fragments from Maimonides' works "Guide for the perplexed" and "The Epistle to Yemenites". Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, known by the anachronym RAMBAM (in Latin Maimonides, or Maimonides, as we call him), is the greatest intellectual figure of the Jewish people. Rabbi philosopher, scientist, doctor, author of a huge number of books. Maimonides' contribution to the history of human thought is invaluable. All Jewish philosophers, including Spinoza, are under his influence. And many Christian thinkers, like Thomas Aquinas, acted under the strong vibrations of Maimonides' thought. He is a combination of rabbis and philosophers who manages to reconcile a deep devotion to religion and intellectual curiosity of spirit. His personality harmonized with complete devotion to the laws of Moses and absolute belief in reason and free exploration of the spirit. | en |
